On a fragment of the old cover is the following description of the volume; "Barons of England since the conquest unto the end of Queene Elizabeth. Done by my unkle, Edw. Jekyll, D.D."
Upon some of the fly-leaves at the beginning is the commencement of a line of descent from Will. Conq.; with arms.
