Summary
Heisenberg, Werner (all of Heisenberg's letters are in German)
Some early letters in German about physics - mostly about the quantum theory of the electromagnetic field then developed by Heisenberg and Pauli. This includes two letters from Heisenberg to Pauli, which were passed to Peierls for comment.
The file also includes correspondence in 1948 during Heisenberg's visit to England, about a visit to Birmingham which was arranged but had to be cancelled. In Peierls's letter of 11 February 1948 there is a reference to a memorandum by Peierls 'Our relations with the German scientists' which was enclosed, but there is no copy of this (see also MS. Eng. misc. b. 219/D.12).
