Locke's copy of Philip Stephens and William Brown, Catalogus horti botanici Oxoniensis (Oxford, 1658), annotated by him with page references to his herbarium (MSS. Locke c. 41, b. 7), forming an index to his specimens.

Page references to the second volume (MS. Locke b. 7) are numbered from 2001 (e.g. p. 97 in vol. 2 is entered as '2097'); the year-dates of obtaining the specimens are indicated by figures 1 to 5 [1661-1665] in the left-hand margin; a few specimens were added, 1666-1672. The volume also contains the names of about 200 additional specimens entered by Locke.
