Summary
Travel notes made by John Greaves (or Graves) the mathematician (d. 1652) in Italy, Turkey, and Egypt, in four volumes:
1. Jottings made in 1637-9 in Richard Allestree's printed almanack for 1637, including notes on weights and measures, inscriptions, and scientific experiments at Florence, Rome, and Siena, 30 leaves, 5 1/2 × 4 in.
2. Memoranda and church notes at Constantinople, without arrangement, 28 leaves, 6 1/2 × 4 1/10 in.
3. An astronomical journal in English kept in Egypt, 1637-8, with further memoranda in Italian and Arabic on the Pyramids, 80 leaves, 4 4/5 × 3 1/5 in.
4. Colloquial phrases in Latin, Greek, and Arabic scattered throughout a volume devoted to memoranda and copies of inscriptions made at Cairo and Alexandria, 1638, 67 leaves, 6 2/5 × 1 2/5 in.
