Physical extent
125 leaves (ii + 123) The edges retrimmed and spattered with red.
Hands
Written in the small neat anglicana-scretary of Browne. At the head of fol. 1 he has written ‘Sancte Bartholomee funde preces’.
Decoration
On fol. 1 is a red and blue initial flourished in red; otherwise blue initials flourished in red as far as fol. 13; thereafter unfilled spaces for coloured initials.
Binding
Standard Merton s. xvii; sewn on four bands; formerly chained from the usual position. At the foot of fols. i and ii, near the foredge, parchment has been removed, probably to tidy up the rent left by a chain-staple.
Provenance
On fol. iiv ‘B lier.5us.’ in the usual hand (see above, MS 60). Beneath is ‘Liber collegii’, in the same humanist hand as that of the inscriptions in the books given by Thomas Bloxham (e.g. MS 69). Immediately below is a table of contents, possibly in the same hand.
On fol. ii are ‘18’ and ‘30us liber’, c. 1500, the second at least presumably referring to a College electio.
At the head of fol. 1 is the James no. ‘184’, s. xvii in.
‘14’ is inked on the foredge.
Inside the front board is a sheet of paper with contents and ‘F. 7, 12’ (canc.), s. xvii, and ‘O. 8. 5. Art:’, canc. and replaced with ‘M. 1. 5’ in red and ‘(CXC)’ in pencil; the College bookplate.
