Hands
One small, proficient anglicana hand.
Decoration
On fol. 1 two blue initials flourished in red; otherwise plain red or blue initials.
Binding
Standard Merton s. xvii; sewn on five bands; formerly chained from the usual position. Near the foredge of fol. ii, near the foot, is the mark of a chain-staple; this does not occur on fol. i because a portion of the leaf has been torn away at this point. Near the foot of fol. 229 are the marks of the large iron chain-staple. The first and last leaves were pastedowns in an earlier binding.
Provenance
At the head of fol. ii is ‘Liber domus scolarium de Merton ex dono Magistri Henrici Seuer sacre pagine professoris ac custodis eiusdem incathenatus ad communem usum sociorum in libraria studere uolentium anno Domini M CCCC lxvi.’
At the head of fol. 1 is the James no. ‘166’, s. xvii. Inside the front board is a sheet of paper with a table of contents and ‘F. 2, 4’ (canc.), s. xvii, and ‘O. 8. 1. Art:’, canc. and replaced with ‘H. 1. 2. (CLXXXVI)’, in red; the College bookplate.
