Decoration
Major initials in colours and gold on fols. 1 (with full border), (with 3-sided borders) 32, 58, 82v, 102, 114v, 125v, 147, 158, 160v (2).
Binding
s. xix, sewn on five bands. Fols. i-iii, 187–9 are paper leaves from this binding. On fol. iv are marks at the foredge near the foot, possibly from a brass chain-staple.
Provenance
On fol. ivvis Fitzjames’s ex dono in the same hand as in MS 173, which annotates and adds chapter-numbers in the margins and as running heads. His arms are added to the border on fol. 1; the usual label with title, ex dono and arms, originally under horn on the back board, is now mounted inside the front: ‘Secunda pars florum Bede ex dono domni Ricardi Fitziames nuper Cicestrensis episcopi et custodis istius Collegii’.
On fol. ivv is ‘O. 7. 2. Art:’, s. xvii, and the College bookplate. Inside the front board is another bookplate with ‘O. 7. 2’ (s. xix), canc. and replaced with ‘K. 3. 2 (CLXXIV)’ in red. ‘2’ is inked on the foredge.
