Hands
The same anglicana hand as MS 163. At the foot of fol. 106 is pencilled ‘Fower scor leues etiam xvii et ’. Running heads in capitals.
Decoration
Blue initials flourished in red, sometimes with 1-sided borders in the colours; blue initials flourished in red; red underlining.
Binding
Standard Merton s. xvii; sewn on eight bands; formerly chained from the usual position. Fols. i-ii, 336–8 are paper binding leaves, fol. 338 from the same printed book as in MS 13. fol. iii was a pastedown in an earlier binding. Near the foot of fol. 335v are the marks of the large iron chain-staple.
Provenance
Part of a set with MSS 163, 165.
Inside the front board is a sheet of paper with a note on the contents, ‘F. 7, 5’ (canc.), s. xvii, and ‘O. 6. 4. Art:’, canc. and replaced with ‘B. 2. 11 (CLXIV)’ in red; the College bookplate.
