151 leaves (ii + 149) The edges retrimmed, affecting marginalia, and spattered with red.

Hands

A proficient early gothic bookhand of ‘type monastique’.

Decoration

Red and blue initials; red or blue initials flourished in the other colour; red paraphs, marginal chapter-numbers and running heads.

Binding

s. xix, sewn on seven bands. Fols. i and 149 are blank paper binding leaves.

Provenance

Made in England, probably a monastic book.

At the head of fol. ii, s. xiv, ‘Liber domus scolarium aule de Merton quem dedit collegio scolarium predictorum Iohannes Turk quondam socius aule predicte incathenandus in communi libraria eiusdem collegii.’ For Turk, fellow in 1352, still in 1355, see MS 11.

The James no. ‘49’ at the head of fol. 1, s. xvii in.

On fol. i is a title, s. xix, and ‘O. 2. 12. Art.’ in ink and pencil, canc. in red.

Inside the front board is the College bookplate with ‘M. 2. 5 (CXXVIII)’ in red.
