Hands
A single proficient anglicana hand, using pale ink. Marginal corrections and notes of s. xiv and xv, especially in bk. 3.
Decoration
Blue initials flourished in red; red or blue paraphs. At the foot of fol. 235v is a pencilled calculation apparently of the number of initials.
Binding
s. xix ex.; bare, chamfered oak boards with projecting squares, backed with vellum; sewn on seven bands. An earlier binding had two straps. Near the foot of fol. 238v is the mark of the large iron chain-staple.
Provenance
Part 2 of a set with MS 93. Probably made at Oxford, at first owned by Walter Rammesbury. On fol. iv is ‘primum supplementum’, s. xiv. On fol. 1v: an erased single-line inscription at the head: Liber magistri conuentus fratrum ; in a formal hand of s. xv Liber domus scolarium de Merton in Oxon’ ex dono M. Walteri Ramesbury inceptor in theologia precentorque in ecclesia Herfordensis ac quondam prefate domus consocii; in the same hand Scriptum inceptoris Coutone super secundum tertium et 4um sententiarum. For Walter Rammesbury, fellow in 1360, until at least 1381, d. by Nov. 1406, see MS 4.
Below is ‘I. 1. 1 (XCII)’ in red. ‘12’ is inked on the foredge.
