Small, neat secretary hands. Marginal annotation throughout in several contemporary hands; one of them may be that of the second table of contents, which is perhaps the hand of Thomas Gawge.
Decoration
Blue initials flourished in red; red or blue paraphs.
Binding
Standard Merton s. xvii, sewn on five bands; chained from the usual position.
Provenance
At the head of fol. 1v ‘Liber domus scolarium de Mertone in Oxonia ex dono M. Thome Gaugge quondam socii eiusdem domus ad incathenandum in libraria ibidem.’ For Gawge, fellowc. 1441–8, d. 1470, see MS 43.
Inside the front board is a table of contents, s. xvii, ‘N. 7. 10 Art:’, s. xvii, canc. and replaced by ‘H. 1. 6’, in red, and the College bookplate. ‘10’ is inked on the foredge.
