Hands
A proficient gothic rotunda bookhand influenced by anglicana; the same scribe as MS 115.
Decoration
As for MS 115. Red and blue flourished initial with partial border in the colours; red or blue initials flourished in the other colour; red or blue paraphs.
Binding
s. xix, doubtless replacing one of s. xvii; sewn on four bands. On fol. 472, near the foot, are marks of the large iron chain-staple. Fols. i-iii, 473–5, are modern paper binding leaves.
Provenance
At the head of fol. i are two early inscriptions: ‘Liber magistri Ricardi de Werplesdon’; ‘Liber domus scolarium de Merton’ Oxon’ ex legato Ricardi de Werplesdone’: UO47. 129. For Worplesdon, see MS 115.
Inside the front board is the College bookplate, with ‘O. 1. 10’, canc. and replaced with ‘L. 3. 3. (CXVI)’ in red. ‘10’ is inked on the foredge.
