156 leaves (i + 155)The edges savagely retrimmed, affecting marginalia and catchwords, and spattered with red. fol. i is of thick, stiff parchment.

Hands

As 59. The scribe writes passages of gloss in the margins in a tiny hand.

Decoration

As 59. Major initials and borders are on fols. 1 (mostly excised), 111, 119, 138, 144v, and 149.

Binding

Standard Merton s. xvii; sewn on five bands; formerly chained from the usual position. fol. 155 was formerly a pastedown.

Provenance

As for MS 59: made for Richard Scarborough (see MS 17), and bought from him by Thomas Bloxham (see MS 41), who bequeathed it to the College on his death in 1473.

Inside the front board is a sheet of paper with a table of contents, s. xvii, ‘N. 5. 10. Art:’, s. xvii, canc. and replaced with ‘G. 3. 5 (LXV)’, in red, and the College bookplate. Titles in a hand of s. xvi occur at the head of fol. 2, partly cropped, and showing that the damage to fol. 1 had already occurred. ‘7’ is inked on the foredge.
