Bastard anglicana by several scribes, some very good, some poor, also a gothic bookhand of academic type. Punctuated by low point.

On fol. 1r a 5-line blue-and-red lombard, flourished red and extended in red and blue into a bar-frame border with mauve flourishing; 2-line blue lombards, some extended, flourished red, throughout; blue and red paraphs; lemmata underlined red.

Sewn on five bands. Standard Exeter binding: simple and quite elegant, calf over millboards, the calf bearing blind decoration of a floral type, early 19th century. Red leather label on spine with gold-stamped title. Endbands perhaps originally white and brown.
Provenance
Not known. Not recorded in Ecloga; but nevertheless probably in the College in the medieval period: see Watson, Exeter, Introduction, pp. xxii–xxiii. CMA, no. 34.
Exeter library identifications are, on the front pastedown, ‘P8–13 Gall’ (deleted); ‘173–H–9’; ‘Ex: Coll: Oxon:’; the book stamp; ‘Coxe Cat. no. XLIV.’ On the spine is a round label with ‘9’ on it.
